Rethymno is a partner city in CIVITAS DESTINATIONS. Sustainable development has informed its work since 2007: in 2011 it joined the Covenant of Mayors and in 2017 the Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (2017). Sustainable mobility is also a pillar in the municipality's Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP).
The study visit will focus on the topics of electro-mobility, shared mobility systems, and mobility plans for schools. During the visit, a variety of local and regional stakeholders will be involved, including Rethymno Municipality, the Technical University of Crete, CIVINET CY – EL, the Region of Crete, and the Ministry of Transport.
