The afternoon of 26 October is open to everyone and revolves around a debate between political representatives of at least five countries. Afterwards, a statement with policy recommendations will be handed over to the European Commission. The day will be closed with an official dinner in one of the most beautiful old buildings in the centre of Utrecht.Wednesday has a varied programme. In the morning, plenary sessions are dedicated to innovative Dutch urban freight policy and to specific goods transport challenges in Gdansk, Tallinn, Funchal, Bologna and Utrecht. Afterwards, the group will break up into three parallel workshop sessions. Speakers from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Finland and the Netherlands amongst others, will share their best practices in the field of construction logistics, goods consolidation at the city fringe and goods flow to consumers. Their presentations will be followed by creative sessions in which the workshop participants will use their expertise, combined with their creativity to come up with successful solutions for freight transport issues. Last but not least, two very interesting site visits will allow the participants to see the direct economic and environmental benefits to Utrecht with a guided tour of the new cargohopper and beer boat or the spectacularly large and modern distribution centre for the HEMA department store chain.Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday is open to CIVITAS and EUROCITIES members and those interested in finding out more about urban freight transport.
