CIVITAS webinar: Behaviour change theories for cycling promotion

13/08/2015

The CIVITAS Thematic Group on Mobility Management organised this webinar on behaviour change theories for cycling promotion to present experiences and challenges to encourage citizens to cycle.

You can find the presentations of the webinar below. Or you can watch a recording of the webinar on the CIVITAS YouTube Channel.

PROGRAMME

Thomas Stokell (Love to Ride): How we can apply behaviour change theory to get more people riding bicycles?
Thomas Stokell is social marketer with more than 12 years’ experience designing behavior change programs specifically to promote cycling.  He ran National Bike Week in New Zealand for 5 years before moving to the UK in 2007 where he established Love to Ride - the online platform that encourages more people to ride bicycles.
Thomas will present their behaviour change framework and describe how cities and advocacy groups can apply a number of different behaviour change theories to encourage cycling.  A description of how the Love to Ride online platform has been designed to incorporate behaviour change theory will also be given along with a case study of the Workplace Cycle Challenge programme.
