CIVITAS Study Tour SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY AT SCHOOLS - Venice, 15th March 2016

Within the PUMAS project, the City of Venice has developed a comprehensive strategy for making sustainable mobility an essential element of its urban and educational policy: from the Guidelines for a “shared sustainable school mobility plan” to the certification and labelling system of schools and the active involvement of parents and pupils in transforming both physical places and mobility behaviours.

On Tuesday 15th March 2016 the members of the CIVITAS Thematic Group Safety & Security have learned and debated from the direct experience of Venice city officials and teachers in a study visit to some schools and mobility interventions.

Roberto Di Bussolo (City of Venice) has guided the group to 5 school sites in Mestre. Both transformed externals and participatory experiences have been shown and discussed with some teachers and parents. See the Map.

The group discussed the impressions from the site visits, Mrs Regina Ludert from the City of Stuttgart (Germany) presented the City experience "I am a climate Hero".

Hello to everybody, maybe you're interested in one presentation. Our project in schools named"I'm a climate hero" is all about climate protection with the main topic of walking to school. This sustainable programm contains 3 double-lessons as well as one evening wwith parents.Within the activity-fund we got funded for 10 classes from Sept.-Dec.2016. Is was so successful, that we are going on.
