The results showed that the percentage of the people who had heard about the measure as a result of the campaigns increased from 15% in 2009 to 66% in 2012.
For the assessment of the acceptance level, we kept track of how the people’s sense of security regarding bicycle use as a means of transportation developed over the past three years. This indicator improved after the measure was implemented. People perceive now the urban area of Iasi as being less dangerous for cyclists – the percentage decreased from 78% in 2009 to 59% in 2011 and 2012.
The average modal split trip indicator was evaluated through surveys. The number of respondents using public transport services doubled in 2012 compared to 2009; 19% of the persons questioned used bicycles in 2012 compared to 8% in 2009, and the percentage of private car users decreased with 4% in 2012 from 17% in 2009.
We also counted the number of persons that rode bicycles on a certain segment of the lane alongside which there are many faculties. The results showed an increasing trend, from 111 users recorded in 2011 to 148 in 2012.
