Within the public transport service use of buses, trams, trolley buses and city rail trains, as well as taxis are available. Daily about 1500 vehicles transport about 1.7 million passengers.
By the General Urban Plan 2003 it is planned: that public transport ensure from 45% to 50% daily trips, stopping increase of the number of passenger trips by car to the level between 25% and 30%, and creating the conditions for comfortable and safe movement of pedestrians by exercising 20% to 25% of trips by walking, as well as increase in the number of daily trips by bicycles.
Bearing this in mind Belgrade has purchased new vehicles of trams, buses and trolley buses, and is planning the expansion of urban city rail. New predestrian zones and new home zones are regulated in the city. It was build and marked so far about 60km of cycling routes. Further improvement of conditions for pedestrians and cyclists is planned. Belgrade is planning to improve the transport system in the direction of enabling sustainable urban mobility.”
